Medical Consultants Network Appoints Industry Veteran to Head Education Thu Mar 23, 12:00 am Dawna Martich Joins MCN as Director of EducationDENVER and LAS VEGAS - March 23, 2006- Medical Consultants Network Inc. ("MCN"), one of the nation's leading healthcare publishing and education firms, today announced at Nursing Management's "Recruitment & Retention Conference" in Las Vegas that it has named Dawna Martich, RN, MSN to the newly created Director of Education position. In this role, Martich will be the point person within MCN for both planning and implementing programs that suit the needs of today's modern healthcare organizations. During her 26 years of nursing experience, Martich has taught within schools of nursing offering both associate's degrees and diplomas. In addition, she has spent 15 years in staff development and has over eight years experience in the management of education. Within these roles, Martich created and provided educational offerings for both patients and healthcare professionals. These offerings, ranging from manuals and brochures to independent learning programs, all utilize the most current concepts within adult learning theories. "In creating educational content for clients and major partners, we wanted to bring on board someone who came from an education background in nursing to augment our traditional skills at MCN, which lie more on the compliance side," said Amanda Valeur, president Medical Consultants Network "Anything education-related will fall under Dawna's area of responsibility. She will be developing new education programs and will lead the way to finding education partners for our business." An experienced speaker on e-learning and technology within healthcare, Martich is very well versed in the planning, instruction and implementation that accompany both healthcare documentation programs and learning management systems. She is also well-published, having written many chapters for nursing textbooks, NCLEX-style test questions for instructor resource manuals as well as online web access resource links. Martich received both a BSN and MSN from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. "I have known Dawna since she was a nurse educator at the hospital where I accepted my first position as an RN," said Joyce Paich, director of content development at MCN. ?Having an executive versed in education who can own the responsibility of bringing in more content for our learning management system is the fundamental reason we turned to Dawna. Her whole focus will be based on acquiring and developing quality content - content that serves our needs from an educator's vantage point." MCN has made a real name for itself in the marketplace with its publications encompassing policies and procedures for healthcare providers. At a very basic level, these MCN policy libraries tell staff members working within the healthcare industry how to be compliant and how to meet the standards of JCAHO, CMS or other regulatory bodies. MCN's content reflects what the practice should be within a healthcare facility to ensure compliance and ranges from Materials Management, to Admitting Department to the Operating Room. Its policies and procedures are template examples of the steps to be taken to perform procedures correctly and within compliance to the standards that are set for the industry. The new Director of Education position will take MCN's content to a new level - beyond just facilitating compliance. MCN's online education, delivered through its learning management system software, provides learner-paced continuing education offerings that will enhance and support the professional nurse's and other healthcare providers delivery of patient care. Martich will bring to MCN a level of consistency, quality and evidence-based practice that can be leveraged across the entire range of MCN?s educational content - from general education to nursing content. "I look forward to building educational products and services that support the learning needs of individuals in the healthcare industry and to do so cost-effectively, with the latest technology platforms," said Martich. "My goal is to make our content relevant and of the highest quality, thereby enabling clinicians to have the knowledge they require concerning the most pressing topics of the day." MCN's learning management system, edept™Training Solutions, is a new platform that has quickly attained a foothold in the market - with 130 courses and over 10,000 users active in its first few months of availability. Nursing Management's "Recruitment & Retention Conference" runs March 24-26, 2006 in Las Vegas. For details, visit http://www.promos-lww.com/r&r.html.
