Office of Inspector General Releases FY 2013 Work Plan

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) Work Plan for Fiscal Year 2013 provides brief descriptions of new and ongoing reviews and activities that OIG plans to pursue with respect to HHS programs and operations during the next 12 months and beyond.
OIG's mission is to protect HHS program integrity and the well-being of program beneficiaries by detecting and preventing waste, fraud, and abuse; identifying opportunities to improve program economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; and holding accountable those who do not meet program requirements or who violate Federal laws. OIG carries out their mission by conducting audits, evaluations, and investigations; providing guidance to industry; and, when appropriate, imposing civil monetary penalties, assessments, and administrative sanctions.
