Based on the belief that health is a basic human right, MCN Foundation was started in 2011, the goal being to empower communities to take control of their health and establish a vibrant and participatory healthcare system. The Foundation’s work with numerous grassroots nonprofits, primarily women-led, has provided education for women in India and several countries in Africa.
The MCN Foundation’s purpose is to support individuals, providers, and organizations in developing countries through healthcare education and entrepreneurial investment in order to nurture and grow healthy families and communities.
One of the organizations the Foundation works with is Hero Women Rising. Founded by Neema Namadamu, Hero Women Rising aims to improve the conditions in which women and adolescent girls live in South Kivu province, eastern D.R. Congo. Through several programs, education and technology are used to “amplify women’s voices, teaching them to advocate for their rights and for the natural environment, build their economic capacity, and support the development of other community grassroots women’s organizations.”
Below is a video from Neema, thanking all those who have supported Hero Women Rising. The video shows just a few of the ways that support has impacted so many women and girls.
