September is Sepsis Awareness Month
It’s About Time – the Sepsis Alliance acronym that everyone should know:
Temperature – Higher or lower than normal
Infection – May have signs and symptoms of an infection
Mental Decline – Confused, sleepy, difficult to rouse
Extremely Ill – “I feel like I might die”, severe pain or discomfort
Every September, since 2011, Sepsis Alliance has invited everyday people – mothers, kids, grandparents, healthcare professionals in every area of medicine and organizations big and small – to help us save lives by raising awareness of the leading cause of deaths in U.S. hospitals – SEPSIS.
Sepsis Alliance is the leading sepsis organization in the U.S. working in all 50 states to save lives and reduce suffering from sepsis. Sepsis Alliance is a charitable organization run by a dedicated team who share a strong commitment to battling sepsis.
The 7th Annual Sepsis Heroes Gala, Sepsis Alliance’s annual fundraising gala, will be held on September 13, 2018 at the Marquee New York City. The Gala will honor the 2018 Sepsis Heroes. This annual event, timed to coincide with Sepsis Awareness Month, honors Sepsis Heroes who have made a significant contribution to sepsis awareness and education among both the general public and healthcare professionals.
Angelica Hale, America’s Got Talent finalist and Sepsis Survivor will perform at the gala – using her voice to raise awareness and drive urgency around recognizing the signs of sepsis. Angelica will also receive the 2018 Erin Kay Flately Spirit Award.
